Will Home Depot Keep its Promise?

Major Announcement from Home Depot:
Retail Giant claims they will phase out wood
from endangered forests by 2002

On Thursday August 26th the Home Depot announced that they would stop selling wood from the world's ancient forests.

We welcome Home Depot's announcement. At the same time we are skeptical of their true motivation. Does Home Depot really want to save the last 22% of primary forests in the world, or is this just another broken promise?

Home Depot's history of broken promises:

1997

Home Depot promised to stop selling ancient redwood and did not phase out the product [more]

1992

Home Depot promised to phase out its supply of tropical wood, but took no action.
