Home Depot Kills Birds (would your mom & pop hardware store do this?)
| Hi... I am a regular customer of your store and have always enjoyed shopping there. However, I was in your store
in Patchogue, New York today, and had a very unfortunate incident which I was very upset about. While walking through
one of the aisles, on my way to purchase several items, I discovered a badly injured/sick bird hopping around.
I found a sales person who told me to leave it alone because they were currently poisoning all of the birds in
the store. This bird was suffering greatly and it brought me to tears. I left the store immediately, without my intended purchases. But decided to go back in to speak to a manager. I spoke with someone who told me that all of the home depots had hired exterminators to get rid of the birds, at the request of the Health Dept. I was horrified that this could be store policy. First of all, there has to be a more humane way to rid the stores of these birds, even if the only option was to kill them. I hate to see any animal suffer needlessly. Second of all, the store was still left wide open, so even if all of the birds in the store were "disposed of", new ones could and were coming in. All it would take is to block off the openings, which would surely cost you less money than an exterminator and would save needless suffering and death of these innocent birds. I am greatly dissappointed in your stores complete lack of responsibility in regards to this situation. I hope that this will be addressed immediately. I also plan on notifying several animal advocacy agencies of this horrible experience. |
